The team were contacted by North Yorkshire Police and asked to rescue a walker who had fallen and sustained a lower leg injury in Swinner Gill. Local team members were soon on scene and supported the Yorkshire Air Ambulance crew in locating the casualty. Due to the casualty’s location, team members were able to access on foot and then escort the paramedics to scene. The casualty had sustained a nasty break to his lower leg, once pain relief was administered, they were then loaded into a stretcher and attached to a rope system to support the evacuation. This was on steep and rocky terrain and required 3 short pitches.
