The team didn’t even get close to base before we received our 3rd callout of the day. Again, from the North Yorkshire Police Control Room, on behalf of Fire and Rescue. Concerns had been raised for a person seen on Middleham bridge, there were fears that he had entered the water and the team were contacted to assist with the search, in water and bankside. Team vehicles were diverted to Middleham bridge with additional vehicles departing the base with additional water rescue equipment and our command-and-control vehicle. One of the teams search dogs deployed river left to search bankside, while team members prepared to pot a raft into the river. At this stage a member of the public informed the Incident commander that the person seen on the bridge was now at home safe and well, the search was then stood down.
15 team members responded to this incident.
