12:30hrs The team were contacted by the North Yorkshire Police Control room and asked to assist with the rescue of a mountain biker who had taken a fall in Apedale. Weather conditions were challenging with spells of driving snow and hail. Situated aproximatley 3km from the road, the site was accessible with 4x4s. A local team member was first on scene to assess the casualty, additional shelter was also provided while a lower leg injury was splinted and the casualty then placed in a cascualty bag to aid warming. The Yorkshire Air Ambulance had been moniotring the call and were also deployed to scene. Braving some rather challenging weather, the aircraft had a small break in the weather and were able to quickly land and collect the patient. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.
