The team were contacted by members of the public who reported hearing a sheep crying from the bottom of a shaft near Hurst. After discussion with the North Yorkshire Police control room, the team were called out to affect a rescue of the stranded animal. It appears the sheep had fallen into a shaft which was part of the old Queens level mine. The team were quickly on scene and located the stranded animal. 2 team members entered the vertical shaft using ropes and caving ladders and some had the sheep returned to the surface.
