15/07/2014 (18) 1438hrs: A small number of team members provided assistance after a motorist dropped their car keys into one of the Buttertubs.  After a short detour, the keys were located and returned to their owner!
 
08/07/2014 (17) 2105hrs:  The team doctor and advanced casualty carers provided assistance to YAS following an injury in Catterick Garrison.

(16) 1516hrs:  The team were called by YAS to assist a walker near Booze.  As the vehicles were about to leave our base, the situation was resolved and our help was not required.

 
05/07/2014 Swaledale MRT along with Cleveland MRT, and Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association provided a mountain rescue presence at the three climbs on Stage 1 of the Tour de France Grand Depart in North Yorkshire.  Thanks go to our neighbouring teams who were on standby to  deal with other rescue incidents whilst the three teams were on the race route.
 
05/07/2014 (15) 1945hrs:  After a day at the Tour de France, the team were called by YAS to assist a walker in Apedale.  After locating the walker, and being treated on scene the casualty with ambulance crew were transported down Apedale to the waiting ambulance.

1628hrs:  Whilst the team were preparing for the Tour de France at the Buttertubs, assistance was given to two cyclists involved in a crash.  One was evacuated via air ambulance, the second by road ambulance.

1947hrs:  A further cyclist was treat on scene at the Buttertubs after suffering multiple injuries in a bike verses fence crash.

 
28/06/2014 (14) 11720hrs: The team were called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist the evacuation of a walker near Aysgarth.  After treatment on scene by the ambulance crew, the casualty was carried by stretcher over fields to the waiting ambulance.
 
22/06/2014 (13) 1600hrs:  The team provided assistance to a rider and observer at the annual Mintex trial who suffered an minor injuries.
 
21/06/2014 (12) 1804hrs: The team were called by North Yorkshire Police to assist the evacuation of a walker in Gunnerside Gill.  After treatment on scene the casualty was carried by stretcher down to Gunnerside to meet an ambulance.
 
14/06/2014 (11) 16.27hrs:  The team were called by North Yorkshire Police to assist in the recovery of a member of a group who was unable to continue their walk off Whitaside.  A team was dispatched to the casualty's location to provide treatment on scene and transport them off to meet an ambulance at the surfaced road.
 
14/06/2014 The team assisted a number of competitors with minor injuries during the annual Swaledale Marathon.
 
30/05/2014 (10) 10.30hrs:  The team were called to assist Teesdale and Weardale Search & Mountain Rescue Team with an incident at Piercebridge.  We were stood from shortly after team vehicles were on route.
 
18/05/2014 The team attended the Nutcracker MTB race event at Aske Sawmill attending to three riders with minor injuries.
 
16/05/2014 13.29hrs:  The team was placed on standby to assist in the evacuation of an injured walker on Askrigg Common.  A callout was not required after the injured person was transported to hospital via Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

(9) 0930hrs:  The team were called to assist North of Tyne MRT in the search for a missing kayaker near to Hexham. The missing person was located by other search teams shortly after our arrival.
 
06/05/2014 15.02hrs:  The team were called by North Yorkshire Police to assist in a search for a missing person.  As the team were mobilising, the person was located by the police search teams.
 
05/05/2014 16.10hrs:  The team were called to assist YAS in the recovery of an injured cyclist near to Tan Hill.  A passing team member gave help at the scene and was able to provide information on the location, and that a callout was not required.  The cyclist was treat by YAS and GNAAS.

(8) 1245hrs:  The team were called to assist with the freeing of a stuck caver in a natural cave section of Windegg Level in Arkengarthdale.  With CRO's help, the team freed the person who was returned to the surface.

 
13/04/2014 The team attended the Nutcracker MTB race event on Catterick Training Area treating to two riders with minor injuries.
 
03/04/2014 Standby: The team were placed on standby to assist Scarborough & Ryedale MRT in the search for a missing person in the York area. 
 
13/03/2014 (7) 23.00hrs: The team were called by the Police to search for a missing person in the Leyburn area, after 3 hours of searching, we stood down pending additional Police information. The missing person turned up safe and well this morning out of the initial search area.
 
16/02/2014 (6) 0100hrs:  Team called out to assist in the search for a walker reported as being lost in the Grinton area.  The team carried out searches through the night with police helicoptor support, and were joined by Teesdale and Weardale SMRT, SARDA and local gamekeepers once light.  The missing man was located safer and well by police officers at 0930hrs.
 
12/02/2014 (5) 1830hrs: The team were called by North Yorkshire Police to locate a stranded car with passenger who left the vehicle to seek help in the Hawes area.  As the team callout was being started, the motorists were contacted and found near to Askrigg, safe and well.
 
09/02/2014 (3) 0445hrs: Called to assist with the evacuatuon of a camper from a location near Colburn.  The team arrived as the casualty was being brought to the roadside by  HART.
 
09/02/2014 (4) 1745hrs:  Second callout of the day.  The team were called to work with YAS and NYFRS to recover an injured canoeist at Kisdon Force on the River Swale near Keld.

(2) 10.00hrs:  team called to assist YAS in the evacuatuion of a fallen horse rider near Middleham.  The team were stood down whilst mobilising after the casualty was evacuated by air ambulance.

 
05/02/2014 Standby: The team were placed on standby to assist North of Tyne and Nortumberland National Park MRTs in the search for a missing person in the Derwentside area. 
 
07/01/2014 Standby:  One of leaders received a pre-alert for assistance with a casualty with a fractured ankle at Muker.  The team were not required and the casualty was evacuated by air ambulance.

Standby:  One of our leaders received a call from a local who had a German student staying who failed to return from a walk from Gunnerside Gill area.  As the missing person was being reported to the police, the missing person was located at Tan Hill Inn.

(1) 1330hrs:  The team were called to assist in the rescue of a walker near to Swinithwaite in Wensleydale.  The casualty was taken to the waiting ambulance as the team were on route, so we were stood down.

(35) 1350hrs:  The team were called to assist in the rescue of a walker at Redmire Force.  The casualty was evacuated by air ambulance.

(34) 1230hrs:  The team were called to assist in the rescue of a walker high on the Pennine Way above Hawes, the Air Ambulance assisted & the casualty was evacuated by the team to the road.

(33) 1700hrs:  The team were called to assist in the rescue of an man who was reported as being stuck on a section of scree slope on Fremington Edge.  The team located the person and returned him to safety.

(32) 1652hrs:  The team were initially placed on standby and then called out  to assist in the search for missing 10 year old from the Catterick area.  The missing person was located at approximately 1930hrs.

(31) 2250hrs:  The team were called to assist in the search for an overdue Duke of Edinburgh's Award Group travelling on the Pennine Way over Great Shunner Fell to Thwaite in Swaledale.  After an initial search the group were found safe and well.

 
16/09/2013 2140hrs:  Standby to assist Scarborough & Ryedale MRT in the search for a missing person in the Boroughbridge area.  The person was safe and well without the need for our help.
 
11/09/2013 (30) 2355hrs: Called by North Yorkshire Police to assist in the search for a missing person in the Brompton on Swale area.  After initial searches next to the River Swale with nothing found the team were stood at 0230hrs.
 
21/07/2013

(29) 1700hrs: Called to assist Scarborough & Ryedale MRT in the on-going search for a missing person at Hutton le Hole.  After a days searching, the team were stood down.  The missing lady was found after the stand down.

(28) 1030hrs: Called to assist Cleveland MRT in the seach for a missing person in the Middlesbrough area.  The missing person was found alive and well.

(27) 0955hrs: Called to assist YAS in the recovery of a female with a leg injury near the Reeth swing bridge.  After intitial treatment with
Yorkshire Air Ambulance the patient was carried across fields to an awaiting YAS road ambulance.

(25) 1600hrs: Called to assist YAS in the recovery of a female with a leg injury near the River Ure near Swinithwaite.  The team met with the YAS crew and carried the patient with our stretcher approximately 500m to the ambulance.

18/05/2013

(24) 1448hrs: Called to assist NYFRS after two men were seen by members of the public in a open canoe going under old railway bridge at Easby waving their arms and shouting. The team were stood down after the police helicopter located the two men who had both come out of canoe but were safe and well on bank after self rescuing. The team were stood down once it was confirmed that the canoeists were safe and well.

 
14/05/2013 (23) 1825hrs: Team called to assist YAS with the rescue of a 47 year old mountain biker on the Pennine Way at Sleightholme Moor.  The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was able to land close by and crew were assisted by fast responding team members to package and load the casualty for onward transport to hospital.
 
20/04/2013 (22) 1335hrs: Team were called by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to rescue a 20 year old female climber who had sustained a lower leg injury after a fall of around 5m at Slipstones, near Masham.  The team hauled the casualty to the top of the crag where Helimed98 had managed to land.  The helicopter then relocated her to the road ambulance in the valley for onward transport to hospital.
 
10/04/2013 (21) 1555hrs: Team called to assist in the rescue of a walker with leg injury in Gunnerside Gill.  The team worked with Yorkshire Air Ambulance to transfer to the awaiting aircraft, and assisted other party members back to Gunnerside.
 
29/03/2013 (19) 1030hrs: Team called to assist in the search for a child separated from a group walking from Keld to Gunnerside.  After initial searches by the party and early mobilisation of a rescue leader, the missing person was found and re-united with group safe and well.
 
29/03/2013 (20) 1500hrs: Team called by North Yorkshire Police to assist in the search for a missing child nr Richmond.  As the team was mobilising the missing person was located safe and well.  No further assistance was required.
 
26/03/2013 (18) 1239hrs: Team called by NYCC to assist in the delivery of medicines to a remote property near Reeth with difficult access due to the snow conditions.
 
25/03/2013 (17) 2050hrs: Team called to assist Scarborough and Ryedale MRT in the search for an missing female near Ryther.  The team  along with SRMRT recovered a body from the River Wharfe in the early hours of the next morning.
 
18/03/2013 (16) 1406hrs: Team called to assist Kirkby Stephen MRT.  Six vehicles travelling in convoy had attempted to cross from Kirkby Stephen to Keld but got stuck and/or had minor crashes due to snow.  Initially no further information was available as to the incident location or if anyone was injured.  A joint effort by both teams confirmed that the incidnet was in Cumbria and that no-one was injured.
 
03/03/2013 (15) 1111hrs: Team called to assist Scarborough and Ryedale MRT in the search for an missing female near Dunnington.  The team's swiftwater rescue unit carried out a search of the River Derwent downstream of Stamford Bridge from the bank and using our inflatable rescue boat.  Unfortunately, the team later found and recovered a body.  York Press.
 
25/02/2013 Less than two months into the year and SMRT have already undertaken 50% of the call outs that we would normally attend in an entire year.  This is only possible for our volunteers given the support of their families and employers. Thank you all!
 
24/02/2013 (13) 1630hrs: Team whilst returning from training exercised were asked to assistance with CRO to recover a member of a sponsored walk.  For further details of the incident click here.  
 
24/02/2013 (14) 1715hrs: Shortly after dealing with Incident (13) three members of the same party were reported overdue and further searches by SMRT and CRO Land Rovers were carried out.  The missing group were located at Beckermonds by SMRT and were returned to their destination by CRO.  For further details click here.
 
19/02/2013 (12) 1830hrs: Team asked by North Yorkshire Police to assist in locating a family whose car was stuck in snow 'somewhere' in Swaledale.  A few local team members took to the roads and eventually located the car on the road between Askrigg and Summer Lodge.  The car was quickly recovered and everyone went safely on their way.
 
16/02/2013 (11) 1130hrs: Team called to assist in the recovery of a walker with a lower leg injury on a path between Marrick Priory and Fremington.  The team team treated the casualty and carried by stretcher to a waitng ambulance for transport to hospital.
 
10/02/2013 (10) 0730hrs: Team called to assist Cleveland MRT in further searching for a missing 68 year old female in the Helmsley area.

06/02/2013 (8) 1005hrs: Team called to assist UWFRA in the search for an missing male near Knaresborough.  The team's swiftwater rescue unit carried out a search of the River Nidd, but nothing found.
 
05/02/2013 (7) 1155hrs: Team called to assist Teesdale & Weardale SMRT in the search for an missing male near to Coatham Mundeville.  The missing man was found safe and well.
 
05/02/2013 1305hrs: The team were placed on standy to assist in the search for an overdue walker in the Reeth area.  The missing pesron was located by the police, and no callout was required.
 
31/01/2013 (6) 1135hrs: Team called to assist Cleveland MRT in the search for a missing 68 year old female in the Helmsley area.
 
30/01/2013 (5) 1850hrs: The team were called to assisted the Yorkshire Ambulance Service with the evacuation of a 89 year old female with a leg injury following a fall at home. Even though snow has now left Swaledale many properties in the dale are isolated and difficult to access even in the height of summer and a small team plus our 4x4 Land Rover ambulance were required.
 
29/01/2013 (D) Team search dog and handler called to assist Scarborough & Ryedale MRT in the search for an missing 68 year old female in the Helmsley area. Stockton & Darlington.
 
27/01/2013 (4) 1322hrs: Team called to assist North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service with the rescue of a 30 year old male kayaker in Arkle Beck near to Reeth.  The teams water rescue unit assisted firefighters in the rescue before carrying the man to the nearby air ambulance. Sadly, despite the efforts of around forty rescuers from five emergency services, the man was later pronounced dead. BBC News.
 
14/01/2013 (3) 1112hrs: The team were called to assist Yorkshire Ambulance Service in the transport of a patient with leg injury from the Tan Hill Inn to Reeth to meet a road ambulance during a period of heavy snowfall.

(1) 1227hrs: The team were called to assist Yorkshire Ambulance Service in the rescue of a couple who fell off a wall near Hawes. The casualties were evacuated by to an awaiting air ambulance and road ambulance for onward transport to hospital.  Daily Telegraph article.

(2) 1345hrs: The team were put on standby to assist North Yorkshire Police in the the search for a missing person in the Reeth area.  The missing person was found by the police as the team was mobilising resources.

(26) 1400hrs: The team were called to assist Yorkshire Ambulance Service in the rescue of a trial bike rider competing in the Boxing Day Trial on Fremington Edge. The casualty was evacuated by stretcher to a team Land Rover for transport to an awaiting ambulance.

(25) 1530hrs: The team were called to assist Yorkshire Ambulance Service in the rescue of a female walker near to Carperby. The casualty was evacuated by  Yorkshire Ambulance with farmers assistance as the first team members arrived on scene.

 
03/11/2012

(24) 1404hrs: The team with Scarborough & Ryedale MRT and SARDA were called to assist North Yorkshire Police in the search for a male missing in the Harrogate / Knaresborough area.  After extensive searching of open farmland, the teams were stood down at 2300hrs.  Following further investigation by the police and trailing dogs, the teams were called again the following evening to extend the search areas closer to the A1(M), but stood down close to midnight with nothing found.  ITV news link.

 
20/10/2012 (23) A busy day for the team during the Scott Trial (one of the toughest one day trials) dealing with a number of minor injuries & 3 more serious ones (two broken arms on the same rider, one ankle injury & a broken leg).  Injured riders were transfered to Yorkshire Ambulance Service and Yorkshire Air Ambulance for onward transport to hospital for treatment.

(22) 1947hrs: The team were called to assist North Yorkshire Police and the RAF in a search following the activation of an emergency personal locator beacon (PLB) in the Muker area.  After some searching the area, it was concluded that the alert came following a mistaken activation and the team stood down.

 
25/09/2012 (21) 1145hrs: The team was placed on standby to assist NYFRS with the developing flood incidents in the Richmond and Catterick area.  Shortly after the standby, a called was received to search for a person reported as being in the River Swale downstream of Catterick.  SMRT with NYFRS crews and RAF Seaking completed a search of the area downstream of the reported sighting before suspending the search due to rising river levels.

(20) 1835hrs: The team were called to assist Yorkshire Ambulamce Service in the rescue of a male walker on the Pennine Way between Hardraw and Great Shunner Fell. The casualty and companion were evacuated by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance as the first team member arrived on scene.

 
11/09/2012 (19) 1343hrs: The team were called to assist YAS rescue a female with a lower leg fracture on the Pennine Way between Keld and Muker. The fisrt team members arriving assisted with loading the casualty to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance for onward transport to hospital in Lancaster.
 
08/08/2012 (18) 1555hrs: The team were again called to assist YAS rescue a female who had aggravated an existing back injury following a slip at Aysgarth Upper Falls. The team provided additional pain relief then packaged the casualty and carried her to the awaiting road ambulance.
 
07/08/2012 (17) 1947hrs: Team called by YAS to assist in the recovery of a walker with lower leg injury from the bank of the River Swale near Scorton.  Team members assisted with packaging transported the casualty to the YAS ambulance.
 
29/07/2012 (16) 1547:  The team were called this afternoon to help the Yorkshire Ambulance Service rescue a male in his 70's from the Chert Quarry on Fremmington Edge.   The team immediately responded from a training session in Keld and worked with YAS paramedics and the Helicopter Heroes team to recover the gentleman to the air ambulance.  Watch out for us on the next series!
 
19/07/2012 (15) 1921hrs: Team called by NYFRS to provide assistance to their Swiftwater Rescue Unit in the recovery of a cat stranded on a small island in the River Swale near Brompton on Swale.  The team was stood down on route after an recovery was completed.
 
05/07/2012 (14) 1608hrs: Team called by YAS to assist in the recovery of a walker with lower leg injury near to the Foregill Gate water splash.  Team members located the group and transported the casualty to meet the YAS ambulance.
 
30/06/2012 (13) 1444hrs: Team called to assist in the recovery of a 16 year old walker near to Bunton Level in Gunnerside Gill.  Team members located the group and transported the casualty to meet the YAS ambulance at Surrender Bridge.
 
25/06/2012 (12) 2230hrs; Team requested to assist North Yorkshire Police with the search for a missing female in Coverdale.  The team deployed to complete initial searches before standing down until the next morning with the search continuing throughout the day.  The missing person was seen by passing people and returned to safety later that evening.
 
21/06/2012 (11) 1400hrs: Team requested to assist the Yorkshire Ambulance Service with an incident at Aldbrough St John.
 
18/06/2012 (10) 1750hrs; Team requested to assist North Yorkshire Police with the search for a missing female in Coverdale.  The team deployed over thirty searchers including four mountain rescue search dogs and were supported by the Durham Police helicopter.  The missing person returned home safe and well the follwing morning and had been outside the search area over night.
 
23/05/2012 (9) 1730hrs: Team called to assist in the recovery of a walker near to Crackpot Hall, Swaledale.  As the team were on route, the group with the walker assisted him back to Keld where he was handed over to YAS.
 
30/04/2012 (8) 1945hrs; The team were called to assist TWSMRT the following day with the ongoing search for a missing 8 year old on the River Wear.  The swiftwater unit and bank support teams carried out searches of the river but were stood down that day. 
 
09/04/2012 (7a) Following Saturdays incident the teams Swiftwater Rescue Unit were requested earlier today by North Yorkshire Police to recover an inflatable dinghy from the River Swale.
 
07/04/2012 (7) 0545hrs; The team were called to assist North Yorkshire Police with the search for a missing 35 year old male in the Catterick Bridge area.  The man had been reported to have entered the River Swale in an inflatable dinghy.  The team used its Swiftwater Rescue Unit and boat to search the river whilst foot parties commenced searches of the bank.  Assistance was provided by West Yorkshire Police helicopter.  Team members located the man at around 0900hrs; he was unfortunately declared dead at the scene. Darlington and Stockton Times.
 
03/04/2012 Called to assist two stranded motorists in heavy snow on B6270 originally thought to be near Ravenseat. Once location established as Tail Bridge Hill near Nateby Kirkby Stephen MRT deployed to scene. No SMRT call out necessary.
 
01/04/2012 (6) 1455hrs: Team called to assist in the recovery of a walker with head injuries in Gunnerside Gill.  The casualty was attended to by Yorkshire Air Ambulance with the first team members on scene assisting with a carry to the aircraft.
 
19/02/2012 (5) 1230hrs: Team called to assist in the recovery of a walker with arm injury on Kisdon, near Muker.  The team located the injured person and transported to Keld via team land Rover for hand over to YAS.
 
15/02/2012 (4) 1530hrs: The team called to assist Scarborough & Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team with a river search for a missing person close to Naburn near York.  The team were stood down after 4 hours of searching.
 
26/01/2012 (3) 16.20hrs: North Yorkshire Police reported a large group of persons (30!) on the fells above Low Row with poor equipment. With blizzard conditions on the tops, a small team was deployed & quickly found the group & with the police re united group, tarmac & transport.
 
18/01/2012 (2) 13.20hrs: The team was contacted by the Yorkshire Ambulance service in relation to an incident in Swaledale. Due to the nature of the incident it was passed to North Yorkshire Police.

(1) 1530hrs: Team called to assist in the recovery of a walker with leg injury near to Grinton Smelt Mill.  After a short stretcher carry the patient was handed over to YAS for transport to hospital.

 
25/12/2011 (25) 1345hrs: Team received a  request  from North Yorkshire Police to assist in the search for a missing person in the Colburn area.  Shortly after deployment, team members found the person in farmland near the village and transported to meet the waiting ambulance.
 
12/12/2011 (24) 1833hrs: Team received a  request  from YAS to assist in the transport of a patient to the road ambulance in Gunnerside.
 
08/12/2011 (23) 1615hrs: Team received a call to assist  North Yorkshire Police during flooding in Swaledale and Wensleydale.  Support was provided in a number of locations to help with the searches of river banks and abandoned cars caught in high water.  The team stood down after approximately six hours as river levels began to fall in the upper dales.
 
03/12/2011 (22) 1638hrs: Team received a from YAS to assist an injured canoeist at Kisdon Force, Keld.  The casualty was evacuated via RAF SAR Helicopter and tranferred to hospital.
 
20/11/2011 (21) 1411hrs: Team received a from YAS to assist an elderly female hill walker with a leg injury on a footpath near Woodall, Wensleydale.  The casualty was packaged and transported to an awaiting ambulance for transport to hospital.
 
22/10/2011 (20) The team responded to provide assistance to a number of competitors and a spectator at the annual Scott Trial.
 
11/10/2011 (19) 1220hrs: The team along with 4 search dogs were called by North Yorkshire Police to assist in the search for a missing man in the Catterick area. After 5 hours of searching woodland the misper was located with assistance from his family. 
 
21/09/2011 (18) 1145hrs: Team called by YAS to help to evacuate an injured walker with lower left leg injury from Catrake Force near Keld.  The team transported the casualty by stretcher to the waiting ambulance in Keld.
 
17/09/2011 (17) 1610hrs: Team called by YAS to assist a female hill walker with a lower leg injury on the Coast-to-Coast path between Ravenseat and Keld in Upper Swaledale.  Due to the location of the incident the team was assisted by members of Kirkby Stephen MRT.  The lady was stretcher evacuated by MRT members to the road ambulance at Ravenseat for transport on to hospital in Darlington.
 
16/09/2011 (16) 1422hrs : The team were called to assit in the evacuation of a walker suffering from chest pain on the Pennine Way west of Hawes.  As the team arrived the casualty was lifted by air ambulance to waiting road ambulance for further treatment.
 
11/09/2011 (15) 2137hrs: The team was called to assist in the search for a 14 year old missing in the Thwaite area. The misper was located by family as the team were on route. 
 
25/08/2011 (14) 1600hrs:  Team called to assist YAS in recovering a female who had collapsed at Aysgarth Lower Falls. The casualty was carried by the team up the river bank to the team vehicle for transport back to the road where she was transferred to the road ambulance.
 
24/08/2011 (13) 1530hrs: Team responded to an incident involving participant in the Richmond Boundary Walk with lower leg injury near to Richmond. The casualty was treated at the scene and then evacuated approximtely 1 mile for handover to a waiting ambulance.
 
14/08/2011 Team provided rescue cover at the Wensleydale Triathlon; some minor injuries to competitors were dealt with.
 
30/07/2011 (12) 1155hrs: Team called to Harkerside Moor to rescue a 35 year old mountain biker with a severe upper arm injury.  The male was provided with casualty care including pain relief before being recovered to the road ambulance in one of our specially adapted Land Rover ambulances.

17/06/2011 (10) 0730hrs; Team initially provided control and navigators for three SARDA search dog units who were requested by Humberside Police to assist with the search for a 62 year old male missing in the Pocklington area.  Later in the day a full team callout was initiated along with Scarborough & Ryedale MRT.  Sadly the missing mans body was found outside the search area by a member of the public during the early evening.  Hull Daily Mail
 
15/05/2011 (9) 1115hrs: Team contacted by North Yorkshire police in relation to a search for a missing female in the Bedale area.  The missing person was located by police officers and the team were stood-down enroute.
 
21/04/2011 (8) 1824hrs: Team contacted by North Yorkshire Police to assist with the search for four children that had become seperated from a family group on high ground above Gunnerside.  Shortly after arriving on scene the children found their own way back to their car followed shortly afterwards by their parents.
 
06/04/2011 (7) 0516hrs: The team was called to provide assistance to Kirkby Stephen MRT in an ongoing search for a missing walker in the Tebay area. 
 
04/04/2011 (6) 1843hrs: The team was contacted by North Yorkshire Police to assist in the search for a missing man in the Catterick area.  The man was found by police while the team were planning the call out.
 
03/03/2011 (5) 1050hrs: The team was contacted by North Yorkshire police to assist a dog owner whose dog had collapsed on Great Haw following a suspected adder bite.  A small team met the owner above West Scrafton and assisted with recovery of the dog to an awaiting vet in the village.  On arrival in the village the dog appeared relatively well but was taken away for a check-up.
 
18/02/2011 (4) 1120hrs: Team called to assist Scarborough & Ryedale MRT with the search for a missing vulnerable 76 year old  female south of Malton.  The team provided its Swiftwater Rescue Unit and boat to search a fast flowing River Derwent.  The body of a female was found and recovered by the Swiftwater Rescue Unit. (3) Team along with three search dog units searched a section of the River Nidd corridor following items associated with potential self harm being located by a member of the public on the river bank.  The teams searched the wooded margins and SMRT's Swiftwater Rescue Unit used its boat to search from the water.  Nothing was found. Update Tuesday 15 February 2011: Police confirmed that the man they have been trying to trace in Harrogate was located.  A 38-year-old local man contacted officers to confirm that he is the man they were looking for and that he was safe and well.

 
06/02/2011 (2) 1339hrs:  Team called to rescue a lone walker with a suspected fracture to her lower leg from high ground above Preston-under-Scar, Wensleydale.  The team carried the lady a short distance to one of our Land Rover ambulances for transfer to the awaiting road ambulance. 
 
15/01/2011 (Di) 1220hrs: Team search dog and handler called to assist UWFRA with the search for a missing male close to Grimwith Reservoir.  Stood-down when the male was located by team members (fatal).

23/10/2010 (23) 0940hrs: Whilst providing rescue cover on the Scott Trial the team responded to a member of the marshalling group who had suffered a suspected heart attack on the course.  The casualty was evacuated by air ambulance as the team arrived on scene.
 
17/10/2010 (22) 1538hrs: Team called to assist YAS with the recovery of a 60 year old female suffering from a lower leg injury a short distance from the village of Keld.  Initial team members on scene carried the casualty to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

(21) 2130hrs: Team along with four search dogs and handlers called to assist in the search for person reported missing from home near Richmond.  The person was found by a search dog team approximately 30 minutes after deploying.  Following initial treatment the team transferred the casualty from woodland to awaiting ambulance.

 
02/10/2010 (20) 1700hrs: Team called to assist YAS with the rescue of an injured trials biker on the remote track between Kidstones and Stalling Busk, Wensleydale.  Stood-down shortly after arriving on scene when the casualty was recovered by the air ambulance.
 
01/10/2010 (19) 1311hrs: Team called to assist North of Tyne MRT with an ongoing search close to the River Derwent in Northumbrland.  Team was stood-down shortly after the call then the missing female was located, safe, by a member of the public.  The holiday maker from Sussex had been missing since Sunday 26th September. 08/09/2010 (D v) 1548hrs: Team search dog and handler were called to assist Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) with the search for a missing vulnerable 38 year old female in a heavily wooded area west of Harrogate.  Teams searched areas of dense woodland before the missing person was located by police on the road close to the search area.

12/06/2010 Team once again provided rescue cover at the SOC Marathon.  A number of competitors were treated for minor injuries and exhaustion.

(8) 2050hrs:  Team along with three SARDA search dog units called by North Yorkshire Police to search for a missing 68 year old male in an area of high moorland close to Garsdale Head.  With the assistance of Kirkby Stephen MRT searches carried on throughout the night.

(5) 1945hs;  An unusual call involving a driver, snow and a satnav.   The driver had set off from Newcastle travelling to Accrington in Lancashire following her satnav; surprisingly the device decided to take her through the centre of the Yorkshire Dales rather than on the adequate motorway network.  When she became stuck she called for help but unfortunately had no idea where she was and the satnav gave a location somewhere between Barnard Castle and Leyburn but it was convinced she was on the A684 in Wensleydale (which it wasn't!).  Anyway after two hours of driving in ever decreasing circles a conbined effort of the team and North Yorkshire Police located the woman near Low Row.

(3) 1321hrs: Team called by North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire County Council to assist several elderly people who live in the very isolated hamlet of Kexwith 2 miles north of Reeth.  The people had been cut off since 15th December 2009; although well provisioned and ready for the weather after nearly a month supplies were beginning to dwindle.  Team members made their way through snow drifts upto 2.5m deep to check on the community and arrange to deliver supplies and medication over the coming days.

2009 has been another busy year for the team with thirty calls for assistance including several multi-day incidents such as the search for Claudia Lawrence (three days).  This could only be achieved through the dedication of team members, their families and all our supporters. Thanks to all

2010 promises to be an exciting year for SMRT with the commissioning of two brand new rescue ambulances (costing nearly £100,000) and the implementation of an online GPS tracking system.

 
18/12/2009 0832hrs: Team placed on standby to assist Yorkshire Ambulance Service due to heavy snow falls in the region. Stood-down without the need to provide any assistance at 1059hrs 20th December.
 
17/12/2009 (30) 1300hrs: Team once again called in it's capacity as a vehicle recovery service to rescue the driver of a vehicle that became stranded in snow in Arkengarthdale.  Driver was safely recovered; however, it took the team four hours to make it back to our Catterick base due to the need to assist numerous drivers on the way.
 
02/12/2009 (29) 0210hrs: Team called when a couple from Doncaster had mysteriously got their 4x4 vehicle stuck on the pennine Way between Bowes and Tan Hill.  Team stood-own shortly after mobilisation when a police vehicle got close to the scene and recovered the occupants.

(28) 2100hrs: Team swiftwater rescue unit along with that from TWSMRT called to assist Keswick MRT with the rescue and evacuation of members of the public in Keswick.  Rescues included a woman in labour.  At 0500hrs team was initially redeployed to Cockermouth where a major flood evacuation was underway.  On arrival the unit were redeployed to Workington where a police officer was missing following a highway bridge collapse.  Team eventually stood-down at 1000hrs returning to Swaledale by 1230hrs.  Northern Echo

 
29/10/2009 (27)  Team called to assist YAS in carry off near Grewelthorpe.  Stood down as the team was being mobilised and evacuation carried out by air ambulance.
 
28/10/2009 (26) 1448hrs: Team called after a child became separated from its parents in the Mill Gill area near Askrigg.  As the team was being mobilised all were reunited safe and well.
 
22/10/2009 (25) 1945hrs: Team along with four search dog units called to search for a missing DOE group comprising twelve young teenagers.  Mobile phone contact was made with the group and a very general area was identified on Kexwith Moor above Arkengarthdale.  Low, dense cloud, heavy rain showers and darkness hindered the search but eventually the group were located by team members and recovered to safety.
 
21/10/2009 (24) 1715hrs: Team along with two search dog units called to located an overdue hill walker.  The male had become sepearted from his partner in the upper reaches of Gunnerside Gill in poor weather and failing light.  Team stood-down shortly after arriving in Gunnerside village when the missing person arrived.
 
21/10/2009 (23 continued) Team members again assisted TWSMRT and Cleveland SRT with the extended search in the Ferryhill area following new information.  Nothing found and teams stood-down.
 
18/10/2009 (Dviii) 1538hrs: Team search dog and handler called to assist Scarborough & Ryedale MRT with the search for a missing, vulnerable, 13 year old male in the Kirkby Moorside area.
 
17/10/2009 (23) 0630hrs: Team called for the continuation of the search for a missing 89 year old male in the Ferryhill area of County Durham.  TWSMRT assisted by SARDA search dogs had searched through the previous night.  The search continued through 17/10/09 with assistance of North of Tyne SRT and a RAF SeaKing.  As darkness fell further resourses were mobilised from Cleveland SRT and SARDA search dogs (including handler from SMRT).  Nothing found and searchers were stood-down to rest at around 1am. (21) 1224hrs: Team called to rescue a 37 year old female who had been struck by a falling tree, brought down by high winds, whilst walking between Muker and Keld.  The team treated the casualty for a serious spinal injury at the scene and transferred her to an awaiting air ambulance for evacuation to hospital.  Northern Echo article

(19) 1520hrs: Team requested to assist Yorkshire Ambulance Service with the rescue of an 84 year old male who had fallen down crags at Mill Gill, Askrigg and come to rest at the base of a tree above a vertical drop.  Air Ambulance used to transport equipment and manpower to the scene.  Technical rope rescue was used to extract the casualty from the gill before being evacuated by Air Ambulance.  Assisted by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.  Northern Echo or Northern Echo.

 
09/09/2009 (D vii) 2305hrs: Team search dog and handler called to assist Calder Valley SRT in the search for a missing and highly vulnerable 13 year old female in the Shelf area between Bradford and Halifax.  Stood-down when person was located.
 
06/09/2009 Underground rescue leader called to provide assistance to Teesdale & Weardale S&MRT in rescue of a dog trapped down a shaft on Mickle Fell. 
 
02/09/2009 (D vi) 1115hrs: Search dog unit called to assist Cleveland SRT with the search for a vulnerable male in the Eston area.  Person located safe and well by Cleveland search group shortly after handler arrived on scene. 
 
02/09/2009 (18) 1620hrs: Team called to Pen Hill, Wensleydale to recover a member of a DofE expedition group suffering from a lower leg injury.  The well prepared group called for assistance when it became impossible to make any further progress.  Young male was stretchered approximately 2km down from summit to awaiting team vehicle and eventually to the valley.
 
02/09/2009 Team members provided medical assistance to an elderly lady whilst attending Muker Show.  The patient was handed over to the ambulance service on their arrival.
 
24/08/2009 0615 hrs: Standby to assist Teesdale & Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team with search for missing person in the Chester le Street area.  The person was located before the team were mobilised.

(17) 1205hrs: Team along with its search dog unit called to assist North Yorkshire Police with the search for a 69 year old female reported missing from home in the Ripon area.  Extensive searches carried out to the east of Ripon including the use of a canoe to search the River Ure.  Nothing found and search stood-down at 2015hrs. Postscript: Missing person returned home safe and well 24 hours after search initiated.

 
07/08/2009 (16) 2015hrs: The team along with two SARDA dogs and handlers were called to an area near Masham to assist North Yorkshire Police in the search for a person reported missing from home.  After initial searches of the immediate area ,the search area was extended, and the missing person was located by team members shortly after.  The casualty was packaged and transfered to hospital via helicopter. 
 
19/07/2009 15) 2015hrs: Team were called to Gunnerside Gill to assist a 21 year old male with knee injury.  After locating the casualty, he was carried off by stretcher to a team vehicle and transported to Gunnerside for hand over to the ambulance service. 
 
13/07/2009 (14) 2125hrs: Team with two search dog units were called to an area near Leighton Reservoir, Masham to assist North Yorkshire Police in the search for a person reported missing from home.  Addtional support was provided by RAF Sea King and local gamekeepers.  The missing person was located in a nearby town by the Police as team members were being briefed.
 
27/06/2009 (13) 1735hrs: Team along with three search dog units called to the Tan Hill area to search for a family (2 adults and 2 young children) who had become disorientated in hill fog during a short walk.  Shortly after the team arrived on scene the family were located safe and well by a police officer.
 
26/06/2009 (12) 1636hrs:  Team called to assist female dog walker who had become stuck approximately 40m down a very steep and slippery slope at Hackfall Wood, nr Masham after attempting to self rescue her old dog.  The immobile dog was carried up the very steep slope by the team dog handler (who really earned his Pedigree Chum this afternoon!); the uninjured owner was then assisted, with the help of a team member and rope, back to the safety of the path.

02/05/2009 (9) 1535hrs: Team called to assist with evacuation of mountain biker following a fall near Usha Gap, Muker in Upper Swaledale.  Casualty was evacuated by air ambulance.
 
07/04/2009 (8) 0730hrs: Team called to assist Cleveland SRT with continuation of incident Dv; search for missing female in the Osmotherley area.  Person found as team were on route.
 
06/04/2009 (D v) 2221hrs: Team search dog and handler along with three others from TWSMRT were called to assist Cleveland SRT in the search for a missing 47 year old female who had threatened self harm.  NYP had traced the missing person to an area of moorland and dense woodland near Osmotherley.  Intensive searches were carried out thoughout the hours of darkness with teams eventually standing down at 0510hrs for escalation as a NESRA incident at first light.  An RAF Rescue helicopter from Boulmer and the ground team from RAF Leeming were also deployed.
 
29/03/2009 (7 continued) continuation of search for missing 35 year old female in York.  Around 50 team members from Swaledale MRT, Cleveland SRT and Scarborough and Ryedale MRT searched areas of open ground.  Team search dog unit was also deployed.

14/03/2009 (5) 2100 hrs:  Team called to assist North Yorkshire police in the search for two children missing from home.  In conjunction with Teesdale & Weardale SMRT, SARDA and RAF SAR helicopter the search continued through the night, and resumed as a NESRA callout the following morning.  The two were found safe at approximately 0900 hrs on the Sunday morning.
 
20/02/2009 (D iv) 0936hrs: Team search dog and handler called to assist CSRT with the continued search for a missing 29 year old female who had threatened self harm in the Rosebury Topping area.  Stood-down enroute when she was located safe and well by police in Osmotherley.

05/02/2009 (Diii) 0400hrs: Team search dog and handler called to assist Langdale & Ambleside MRT with the search for a missing 60 year old male fell walker.  The fells were in full winter condition with a moderate but heavily frozen snow and ice cover.  Team were tasked to search Rossett Gill on to Bow Fell.  Keswick, Wasdale, Duddon and Furness and Bowland Pennine MRT’s also on scene.  SARDA dog teams from England, Lakes and Southern Scotland assisting.  A body was located by RAF Rescue helicopter at around 1100hrs.  BBC News.
 
29/01/2009 (Dii) 2024hrs: Team search dog and handler called by Scarborough & Ryedale MRT to assist with the search for a missing, vulnerable, twelve year old male at Hunmanby.  Stood-down when the boy was found by police approximately four miles from home.  Two further search dog units from TWSMRT and RAF helicopter also assisting. 25/01/2009 (2) 0706hrs: Team called to assist TWSMRT in the search for a missing 54 year old male in the Peterlee area.  The man was located by police helicopter at around 1130, treated and then evacuated by rescue team members. Sunderland Echo, Northern Echo
 
25/01/2009 (3) 1730hrs: Team briefly on standby when a family with young children called 999 as they become snowbound in their vehicle near Tan Hill. They were unsure of their location and thought that they may have gone off road. The Durham police helicopter located the vehicle and a police 4x4 was able to recover the family.  Team and TWSMRT stood down prior to mobilisation.
 
20/01/2009 (1) 0535hrs: Team along with its search dog unit were called to assist TWSMRT with the escalation of a search for a missing 32 year old male from London.  The man had set out from Langdon Beck on Sunday morning along the Pennine Way but did not make his overnight accommodation in Dufton.  The mans wife raised the alarm during Monday afternoon.  Search dog teams searched his intended route, through deep snow, throughout Monday night.  At around 1130hrs the man managed to get a mobile phone signal and contacted rescue teams who were able to recover him by RAF Rescue helicopter.  He was approximately 2.5km off his intended route and had camped in very poor weather for two nights in the area of Meldon Hill after becoming lost. 19/01/2009 (D i) Team search dog and handler called by West Yorkshire Police to assist with the search for a missing 48 year old female in the Methley Bridge area close to Castleford. UPDATE; sadly the body of the missing person was found on 23rd March 2009 7km down stream of the search area. Yorkshire Post

2008 has been the busiest year on record for the team with over thirty calls for assistance.  This could only be achieved through the dedication of team members and all our supporters. Thanks to all.

 
27/12/2008 1240hrs: Team search dog handler contacted for advice by West Yorkshire police in relation to a missing person search centred around a canal in Huddersfield.  Passed to local handlers who were stood-down shortly after arriving on scene when the missing person was located by the police underwater search unit.
 
21/12/2008 (33 continued) Search resumed at first light with the assistance of Teesdale & Weardale SMRT, Upper Wharfedale FRA and five SARDA search dog units.  West Yorkshire Police underwater search team also on scene.  Around forty local people also assisted.  Extensive searches of the reservoir banks, coniferous woodland and moorland crags were carried out.  At around 1120hrs mountain rescue team members found the body of a male.  The thoughts of all involved in this difficult search go out to the mans family and friends. 20/12/2008 (33) 1712hrs Team along with two SARDA search dog units called by North Yorkshire Police to search for a missing 24 year old male in the area around Leighton Reservoir near to Masham.  Stood-down at 2200hrs to recommence at first light. 
 
19/12/2008 (xxiv D) 0700hrs: Team search dog and handler called to assist TWSMRT with the continuation of an overnight search for an 81 year old male in the Stanhope area of Weardale. The unit searched an area of rough, open disused quarry and was awaiting a new search task when the man was located. 
 
19/12/2008 (32) 1025hrs: Team placed on standby to assist TWSMRT with the escalation of a search in the Stanhope area of Weardale for an 81 year old male.  Stood-down at 1059hrs when the missing man was located by a family friend close to his home. TWSMRT incident report  Northern Echo.
 
13/12/2008 Team placed on standby by Yorkshire Ambulance Service due to forecasted heavy snow.  Team not required and stood-down at 1000hrs the following day.
 
09/12/2008 (31) 1819hrs: Team along with two search dog units called by North Yorkshire Police to assist with locating a motorist.   The driver became stranded by wintery conditions between Swaledale and Wensleydale and arranged a meeting place for recovery.  When, four hours later, he still hadn't arrived his employer became concerned and called the police.  Whilst the team were enroute the man found a remote farm and reported himself safe but very cold.
 
05/12/2008 (30) 2038hrs: Team placed on standby by North Yorkshire Police for a search in the Birkdale Common area west of Keld close to the Cumbrian border.  A gamekeeper was overdue and police were alerted by his colleagues when his quad bike was found abandoned.  Team leader contacted KSMRT as they were already on exercise close by to investigate further.  During this time the missing man was located and teams were stood-down.
 
04/12/2008 (29) 0740hrs: Team provided support to the Yorkshire Ambulance Service during a period of heavy snow.  Stood-down at 1600hrs when road conditions improved.
 
12/11/2008 (28) 0123hrs: Team called along with its Swiftwater Rescue Unit to assist with the continued search, at first light, for the missing female in Dentdale.  Team re-searched the river along with teams for Kendal MRT, Duddon Furness MRT, CRO and KSMRT.  Stood-down at 1030hrs when, sadly, a body was located close to Middleton Bridge on the River Rawthay 10km downstream of the where the car entered the water. 11/11/2008 (xxiii D) 2000hrs Team search dog along with handler and navigator called by Kendal MRT to assist with the urgent search for a female motorist whose car had been swept from a ford across the River Dee, Dentdale.  Team doctor also assisted.  Nothing found following extensive searches; stood-down 0100hrs. The team would like to thank local people for the refreshments and support provided during this search.
 
06/11/2008 (xxii D) 1437hrs: Team search dog and handler called to assist CSRT with the search for a missing 19 year old male in the Malton area of North Yorkshire.  Stood-down shortly after arriving on scene when the missing man was located safe and well by the police. CSRT incldent report.
 
04/11/2008 (xxi D) 1750hrs: Team search dog and handler along with a team members as navigator were called by KSMRT to assist with the search for a 28 year old male who had become lost due to darkness in the region of High Pike Hill. Stood-down en-route when the man was locate by an MRT foot group.
 
26/10/2008 (xx D) 0830hrs: Team search dog and handler placed on standby by SARDA Lakes in the unlikely event that any of the competitiors from the OMM in Borrowdale were actually missing.  Stood-down 1600hrs when race organisers via Cockermouth MRT confirmed all accounted for.
 
25/10/2008 (xix D) 1758hrs: Team search dog and handler called to assist KSMRT with search and recovery of five DoE students on the Calf, Howgill Fells.  Stood-down enroute when group located by KSMRT search dog team.
 
19/10/2008 Team once again provided rescue and medical support to the annual Scott Trial around Swaledale.  Team members treated a number of casualties for minor injuries including lacerations and dislocations.
 
12/10/2008 (27) 1201hrs: Team called to assist Yorkshire Ambulance Service with evacuation of a casualty from Hackfall Woods near Masham; stood-down enroute.
 
24/09/2008 (25) 2131hrs 23/09/2008: Team along with its search dog team called to assist Kirkby Stephen MRT with the search for a missing dispondant 39 year old male in the Barras area of East Cumbria.  Search also involved members of TWSMRT, Penrith MRT, SARDA Lakes and rescue helicopter from RAF Boulmer.  The search stood-down with objectives for the day completed.  The man was found by the police later that day.  BBC News article
 
24/09/2008 (26) 1335hrs: Team called to assist North Yorkshire Police in the search for a missing child in the Knaresborough area.  Due to the urgent nature of the search the team search dog and handler were immediately diverted from the ongoing incident 25.  Stood-down enroute when the child was located by police. 
 
17/09/2008 (xviii D) 1057hrs: Team search dog and handler called to assist Scarborough & Ryedale MRT with the search for a crashed light aircraft in the Robin Hoods Bay area following several eye witness reports of a fireball crashing into woodland.  Fire Service, Coastguard and Rescue SeaKing helicopter assisting.  Stood-down enroute when it transpired that the sightings were actually of Chinese lanterns.  False alarm with good intent.
 
06/09/2008 (24) 1030hrs to 1830hrs: Team members including the Swiftwater Rescue Unit manned our rescue base as part of a stand-by to assist both North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service during a period of storms and flooding.
 
06/09/2008 (xvii D)  2122hrs: Team search dog and handler called to assist Cleveland SRT with a search for a vulnerable male in the Guisborough area.  Stood-down enroute when the search was supended pending further police enquiries.
 
27/08/2008 (23) 1411hrs: Team called along with SRMRT to assist North Yorkshire Police in the search for a missing 82 year old man after a car and personal effects had been found close to the River Ouse at Nether Popleton, York.  Team Swiftwater Rescue Unit and search dog quickly on scene.  Shortly after deployment team search dog indicated a point in the river and the police dive team recovered a body from that location shortly afterwards. 19/08/2008 (22) 2225hrs: Team along with two search and rescue dog teams called to search for a 13 year old male who had run away from his group accommodation at Grinton Lodge.  Stood down en-route when missing person found hiding in his bedroom having returned.
 
15/08/2008 (21) 1620hrs: Team placed on standby to search for a missing vulnerable male at Fountains Abbey near Ripon.  Team search dog and handler quickly on scene assisting with the search of priority areas and provided liasion.  Stood-down at 1920hrs; the man was found safe and well in Sunderland.
 
14/08/2008 (20) 0800hrs: Team search dog and handler called to assist Teesdale & Weardale SMRT with the search for a missing 44 year old male from the West Auckland area of County Durham.  At 1238hrs full team callout to assist with the escalating search.  At 1430hrs all searchers stood-down when further police enquiries determined that the man was in London.
 
10/08/2008 (19) 1842hrs: Team called along with two search dogs and their handlers to locate two missing female walkers in the Arkengarthdale area.  The pair had become separated from the path whilst enroute between Thwaite and Tan Hill and managed to contact the police via mobile phone.  They were found by a team search group (just as darkness fell and weather conditions deteriorated significantly) and walked off the moor safe and well if a little wet.
 
04/08/2008 (18) 1450hrs: Team called by North Yorkshire Police to assist with a missing person search in the Colburn area.  Stood-down shortly afterwards when person was found by police in Leyburn.
 
27/07/2008 (xvi D) 1740hrs: Team search dog and handler called by Cleveland SRT to assist with the search for a missing 67 year old male from the Guisborough area.  The man had set out on a 20 mile, solo sponsored walk the previous day but had not returned home.  Extensive searches of the intended route and potential escape routes were carried out in conjunction with search groups from both Cleveland SRT and Scarborough and Ryedale MRT eventually standing down at 0045hrs.  Sadly a body was found by a local gamekeeper early the following day.
 
15/07/2008 (xv D) 2250hrs: Team search dog and handler called by Kendal MRT to assist with the search for a missing 87 year old female in the Kirkby Lonsdale area.  Eight search dog teams from SARDA England and SARDA Lakes on scene.  Stood-down at 0300 with nothing found. Unfortunately, the body of the missing woman was located the following day in Lake Windermere by members of the public. BBC news.
 
13/07/2008 (17) 1500hrs 12/07/08: Team called along with Scarborough & Ryedale SMRT and two SARDA dog teams from SMRT and UWFRA to assist North Yorkshire Police in a planned search for vulnerable missing female in the York area.  Extensive searches were conducted of open meadow, scrubland and dense woodland.  Search was stood-down with objectives completed.  York Press Article
 
03/07/2008 (xiv D) 0402hrs: Team search dog and handler called by UWFRA to Fell Beck near Pately Bridge in connection with a search for missing female.  Stood-down before deployment.
 
30/06/2008 (16) 1730hrs: Team called to assist ambulance service in the carry off of female with leg injury near Woodhall, Wensleydale.  As the team was being mobilised help was provided by a farmer.  The team were stood down.
 
22/06/2008 (15) 2030hrs: Team called to assist in search for man reported missing from home in Leyburn.  As team members prepared to commence the search with three SARDA dog teams on route the man was found by police about 1km from home.
 
14/06/2008 (14) Called to assist competitor in Swaledale Marathon suffering from chest pain.  The team transported the walker to meet the ambulance service who continued treatment to hospital.
 
10/06/2008 (13) 2145hrs: Team called to assist in evacuation of female with facture to arm resulting from a fall on rough ground near Sliptones Crag, Colsterdale.  YAS crew were first on scene and requsted RAF Sea King due to the failing light and potential discomfort during a carry off. The team arrived on scene to marshall the inbound aircraft and escort the remainder of the party of the hill to their vehicles.
 
13/05/2008 (xiii D) 1850hrs: Team search dog and handler placed on standby by TWSMRT in connection with a search for a despondent male in the Chester-le-Street area of County Durham.  Located by TWSMRT search dog around 2240hrs. Teams assistance not required.
 
08/05/2008 (12) 0515hrs:  Team called along with its search dog and handler to assist Teesdale and Weardale SMRT in search for an elderly female near Newton Aycliffe.  Incident stood-down following extensive searches of local woodland; enquiries continue. BBC News report.
 
07/05/2008 (x ii D) 2030hrs: Team search dog and handler placed on standby by TWSMRT for search in the Bowburn area of County Durham. Not required and stood-down at 2200hrs.
 
05/05/2008 (11) 1515hrs: Team called to a remote location in Swinner Gill, Swaledale to rescue a 50 year old male from Kent who had fallen approximately 30m over a crag and down to the base of the gorge.  Team doctor treated the man at the scene for serious multiple injuries including an open and rotated lower leg fracture.  The Team, using rope rescue equipment, then hauled the casualty approximatley 400m up out of the gorge to the waiting Great North Air Ambulance for onward transport to James Cook Hospital. (10) 0015hrs: Team called along with Teesdale & Weardale SMRT, Kirkby Stephen MRT and five SARDA dog teams to search for missing female near Tan Hill Inn.  Shortly after team members arrived on scene the missing person was located by Cumbria Police.

 
26/04/2008 (x D) 1745hrs: Team search dog and handlers called to assist Kirby Stephen MRT in a search for a group of six young men after they had reported themselves lost and ill equipped near Shap.  Stood-down enroute when group refound a path and safety.
 
17/04/2008 (viii D) 1040hrs:  Team search dog and handler called by Cleveland SRT to assist in the search for a missing 50 year old man in the Bilsdale area of the North Yorkshire Moors after the mans vehicle had been discovered abandoned at Spout House.  Teams searched woodland, farmland and open moorland.  Search was carried out with futher assistance of Scarborough & Ryedale MRT  (SRMRT) and an RAF Rescue helcopter from RAF Leconfield.  The man was located by a SRMRT search group safe and well at around 1500hrs.
 
17/04/2008 (ix D) 1725hrs: Team search dog and handler requested to assist South Yorkshire Police with search in the Rotherham area.  Unfortunately, unable to assist due to extensive use of search dog earlier in the day on incident (viii D).
 
13/04/2008 (9 continued) Search from 12/04/2008 recommenced at 0900hrs with assistance from Cleveland SRT and Teesdale & Weardale SMRT.  Large area of agricultural land and woodland to the north of Middleton Tyas was searched.  At around 1600hrs search was stood down following discovery of a body by a member of the public outside the search area. 12/04/2008 (9) 0905hrs: Team called along with four SARDA dog teams to search for a missing 47 year old male around the village of Middleton Tyas.  After extensive searches of farm and woodland nothing was found.  Teams stood-down to recommence as a NESRA search on 13/04/2008.
 
08/04/2008 (vii D) 1705hrs: Team search dog and handler called by Cleveland SRT following a walking party reporting calls for help on Farndale Moor.  On dog teams arrival an RAF SeaKing had been tasked to search the area.  Dog team provided advice and liaison to other dog teams enroute.  At 1900 following no reports of missing persons and completion of the helicopter search, dog teams were stood-down.  Taken as innocent call out with good intent; likely to be sheep calls.
 
07/04/2008 (vi D) 2108hrs: Team search dog and handler placed on standby to assist NNPMRT with the search for three missing hill walkers in the Wooler area.  Missing group located and evacuated by RAF SeaKing from Boulmer without the deployment of ground based searchers. 
 
29/03/2008 (v D) 1800hrs: Team search dog and handler placed on standby to assist Cleveland SRT in search for four lost walkers on a challenge event in Bilsdale. The group were found safe and well but very tired by CSRT members without the assistance of search dogs.
 
26/03/2008 (A) 1540hrs: Four team members who were taking part in an advanced casualty care course in Carlton assisted Cleveland SRT with the rescue of a walker who had fallen and broken her wrist on Carlton Bank; the lady also had an additional medical condition that required a rapid evacuation via RAF Sea King helicopter.
 
23/03/2008 (8) 0350hrs: Team called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to Ivlet, Swaledale to recover a late night sledger who had sustained lower leg injuries.  Weather and road conditions were very poor with heavy snow.  The YAS ambulance was unable to progress beyond Gunnerside Village.  The team stabilised the casulaty before evacuating him by stretcher from the remote farm location to the road before onward transport in our Landrover ambulance.  Incident stood-down at 0600 just in time for the Easter Bunny. 
 
10/03/2008 (7) 0933hrs: Team called after group on Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expedtion had left overnight campsite in Swaledale during poor weather conditions and their supervisor was unable to locate them.   A local team member was dispatched to Keld to interview person reporting, but within the party were located shortly afterwards without further SMRT assistance.  Team stood down.
 
08/03/2008 (6) Provided assistance to canoeist who has capsized and safety reached the river bank suffering from mild hypothermia and exhaustion.  The canoeist was treated at the scene by the team before being walked from the river to an awaiting vehicle.  Once recovered he was returned to join his group at the end of their trip.
 
22/02/2008 (5) 1610hrs: Team along with four SARDA dogs and handlers called to Arkengarthdale Moor above Swaledale by walking party who had become separated from two members of their group whilst trying to cross a flooded gill.  Search manager on scene within 30 minutes; as searchers were about to deploy the two walkers navigated their own way to the Tan Hill Pub and were reunited with the group. 
 
17/02/2008 (4) 0905hrs: Team along with SARDA dogs and handlers called by North Yorkshire Police to search for a missing male who had left the Crown Public House in Askrigg late on Saturady night to walk home to Hawes.  Stood down almost immediately when the man arrived home (obviously with some explaining to do).
 
03/02/2008 (3) 1800hrs 01/02/2008: Called to assist TWSMRT with planned search for missing male from Darlington in the Wolsingham / Hamsterley area of County Durham.  Continuation of dog only incident 31/01/2008.  BBC News link.

(2) 1614hrs: Team called along with TWSMRT and Kirkby Stephen SMRT to assist with the evacuation of motorists from the snow-bound A66 in County Durham and Cumbria.  Following initial assistance on the A66 search groups and team vehicles checked local roads for further stranded motorists.  By 2000hrs all motorists either confirmed as safe or evacuated by Mountain Rescue Teams. 30/01/2008 (iv D)  2245hrs: Team search dog and handler placed on standby by Teesdale & Weardale MRT to commence search at first light.  Game Keeper made possible sighting of missing person from dog only incident 25/01/2008 in the Hamsterley Forest area of County Durham.  Local SARDA dogs searched until 0300hrs.  SMRT dog team not deployed following further investigation.
 
29/01/2008 (iii D) 0910hrs:  Team search dog and handler called to assist Keswick MRT with ongoing search for a 52 year old female in the River Greta area close to Keswick.  Stood-down enroute when body of missing person was located by RAF Helicopter.

(ii D) 1020hrs: Team search dog and handler placed on standby to assist Teesdale & Weardale MRT with possible search in the Darlington area.  Following consultation with police dog teams were not deployed. 

 
19/01/2008 (i D) 1530hrs:  Team search dog and handler called to assist Teesdale & Weardale MRT with search for missing 9 year old girl.  All NESRA SARDA dog teams were training in the Lake District and were making ready to depart when girl was found and search stood-down.
 
17/01/2008 (1) 1300hrs:  Rescue of game keeper's terrier from cave near Askrigg.  The dog was found live and well at the foot of an 80' hole 27 hours after disappearing.  See article in The Northern Echo.
 
16/12/2007 Called to assist the drivers and passengers of two 4x4 vehicles who became bogged down on an off road trip between Swaledale and Wensleydale.  Four were walked off the hillside by team members with the fifth, a wheelchair user, being carried off by stetcher to a waiting team vehicle.   At the time of the incident the temperature was -3 C.  The Northern Echo Article.
 
07/12/2007 Team search dog and handler contacted by Duddon & Furness MRT to assist in continued search for a missing 57 male in the Grizedale Forest area of the Lake District.  The body of the missing man was located by an MRT search group during Friday morning.
 
10/11/2007 Whilst attending a national training weekend on Saddleworth Moor, Lancashire, our Search Dog and Handler were requested to assist in the search for a despondent male in the Delamere Forest area of Cheshire.  The missing person's vehicle had been located in one of the forest car parks earlier that day. Stood down at approximately 2000hrs following extensive searches of scrub and woodland with nothing found.  Search involved around fifteen SARDA England search dogs, Buxton MRT and Cheshire Lowland Search Team.
 
30/09/2007 Search for missing 18 yo recruit who was reported missing during a training exercise on the Catterick training area.  The team were called and began searching with assistance from RAF Sea King and a SARDA dog handler.  As TWSMRT were about to be mobilised to provide assistance the soldier was found by the army safe and well in a bivi site approximately 1km away from his intended site.
 
29/09/2007 Search for a missing man who became separated from his walking group after a lunch stop.  The man returned to his home and the group advised of his safe return.
 
22/09/2007 The team provided assistance to a Duke of Edinburgh's Award group, one of whom was reported to be ill.  After initial help and advice to the group's supervisor, team vehicles met up with the group to check that they had been succesfully located.
 
19/09/2007 Called by Yorkshire Air Ambulance to assist in location and recovery of injured person at waterfalls.  The team were stood down shortly after arriving on scene, with the injured person being attended to by the ambulance crew.
 
19/09/2007 Team SARDA dog handler called to assist North of Tyne SRT in the continued search for missing person in the Killingworth area, north of Newcastle. Stood-down en route when misper returned home.
 
12/09/2007 The team was called to assist the police and ambulance service in the rescue of a man found in a confused state in the River Swale near Easby Abbey. 
 
26/08/2007 Called to assist injured mountain biker who came off his bike in Arkengarthdale.  The man was treated at the scene by team members and packaged for onward transport to hospital by air ambulance.  The Northern Echo Article.
 
19/08/2007 Called by North Yorkshire Police, early afternoon, to assist in the search for a Duke of Edinburgh's Award group reported overdue by their supervisor from the previous evening.  The team was mobilised and during initial search planning the group contacted their supervisor after reaching the intended destination for the next day near Reeth.  The group were safe and well following a nights camping and being assisted off the hill with directions from walkers.  Assistance was provided by local gamekeepers and SARDA, with Teesdale and Weardale SMRT and Kirkby Stephen MRT placed on standby.
 
08/08/2007 Called to assist climber who had fallen on crag near Downholme.  Casualty was treated at the scene for suspected back and pelvic injuries, carried by stretcher to landing site for onward transfer to hospital by RAF helicopter.

Attended major incident at helicopter crash site on the Catterick Garrison training area.  Team members worked alongside police, ambulance, fire, army and RAF personnel as part of the search and rescue operation to prioritise and treat casualties, marshall and coordinate SAR aircraft taking the injured to hospitals across the North East.  Further assistance was provided to the RAF MRT by the team's SARDA dog and handler along with team members to search the area surrounding the site.  BBC News site   The Northern Echo article

22/06/2007 Called to assist North Yorkshire Police in the search for a missing female near Masham.  The lady was found by the police as the team was being mobilise.
 
15/06/2007 Called to assist North Yorkshire Police in the search for a missing male in a beck close to Catterick Garrison.  Initially, with assistance of SARDA, and the RAF a search of the area was undertaken, standing down that night due to failing light.  The following day, with assistance from NESRA teams, a further search of the area was conducted.  As beck levels fell the missing man's body was found later in the day.

10/03/2007 Called to assist female with query fractured lower leg in in Arkengarthdale.  The alarm was raised by the lady's  partner and the pair located by  the air ambulance. SMRT tasked to assist and arrived on scene as the aircraft was departing.  SMRT assisted uninjured partner of injured walker return to their vehicle.
 
31/01/2007 Called to search for elderly male who was reported as missing from home.  SMRT carried out a detailed search of the area around the man last known position which continued through the night, and instigated a panel call out for a start in the morning with assistance from TWSMRT / CSRT / SARDA.  The man was found alive approximately three miles away from home by two men next day.
 
01/12/2006 Search for man reported as missing from home, after his car was found at West Witton, and believed to be on Pen Hill.  During search man found by police 8km south of search area.
 
22/11/2006 Search for missing army recruit who failed to return from run on training area.  The team commence a search and the missing recruit returned to his guard room shortly after.
 
21/10/2006 Attendance to two separate trials bike riders on the annual Scott Trial in Swaledale, the first suffered abdominal injuries; the second (a spectator) required Sea King evacuation to James Cook Hospital following head injuries.
 
17/10/2006 Lady missing whilst on walk with dog.  Team along with police officers located dog and lady in River Swale.  Both recovered safely from river.
 
15/10/2006 Duke of Edinburgh's Award group telephoned via mobile phone reporting as being lost in the Tan Hill area.  SMRT mobilised a search for the group and returned them to the supervisor.
 
15/10/2006 Assistance to TWSRT and Durham Police on recommenced search for missing person as part of NESRA callout.  Search successfully located body of missing man.
 
09/10/2006 Assistance to Kirkby Stephen SMRT on search for missing person, along with TWSRT, Penrith MRT.  The search ended same day without a succesful find.
 
06/10/2006 SMRT were initially called to assist North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service remove a body from the river bank up steep ground following a car leaving the road in Swaledale.  A search continued with the assistance of SARDA to locate second person travelling in the car whose body was found approximately 2 miles down river the following day.
 
20/08/2006 Called to assist the East Cumbria Search Panel in search for 75 year old missing from home in Brampton, Cumbria. The man’s dog barking alerted passing walkers and both were found on moorland some 48 hours after the start of the search.
 
10/06/2006 The team provided assistance to various competitors on the annual Swaledale Marathon; one with minor injury following a fall, and several suffering from the effects of heat through the day.
 
25/04/2006 Called to assist the East Cumbria Search Panel in search for 75 year old walker missing in the Dufton / High Cup Nick Area. The man’s body was subsequently found by local teams.
 
19/04/2006 The team provide assistance to a canoeist who suffered a dislocated shoulder on the River Swale.
 
05/04/2006 The team were called following a group of seven Duke of Edinburgh’s Award students being reported overdue on a practice walk. The group arrived safely at their destination whilst the team were being mobilised.
 
20/02/2006 Called to assist injured walker, who received assistance from nearby people while the team were en route and handed over to the ambulance service.
 
11/02/2006 Called to assist police in search for 23 year old missing from home in the Bedale area. Missing person was found by the police while the team were conducting initial search of the surrounding area.
 
29/01/2006 Called to assist ambulance service in recovery of crashed paraglider on Whether Fell. The Team were stood down on route following recovery of the injured pilot by air ambulance.
 
10/01/2006 NESRA call out to assist Teesdale & Weardale Search & Rescue Team in search for missing male in the Sedgefield area. The man was found whilst the team were on route.
 
05/01/2006 Assistance to police as part of search for a missing 54 year old in the Catterick Garrison area who was later found safe and well in Richmond.
 
22/10/2005 The team provided treatment and assisted riders in the Scott Trial; a motorcycle event in which riders have competed since 1914, with the event being held in Swaledale since 1950.
 
03/09/2005 Called to assist fire service to rescue male who was injured after jumping off waterfall at the popular waterfall attraction in Richmond.
 
15/08/2005 Called to assist walker with chest injury on Great Shunner Fell. The team were stood down on whilst on route.
 
31/07/2005 Small underground team deployed to assist police during search of disused mine shafts.
 
29/07/2005 Call to assist police in search for missing 50 year old on moorland area near Richmond. Team started the search with assistance from six SARDA search dogs and handlers until 3.00am. The search continued at first light with assistance from Cleveland Search & Rescue Team and a further two SARDA dogs and handlers who made a successful find.
 
09/07/2005 Called to assist police in search for missing 19 year old. Team searched areas requested – nothing found.
 
19/06/2005 Initially called by the ambulance service to assist during flooding in and around the Thirsk area. Once on scene the team remained on standby to assist the police until the early hours of the morning.
 
01/06/2005 Called to assist the ambulance service on deployment of air ambulance. The team was stood down on route.
 
20/05/2005 Two adventurous sheep became stranded on a ledge on the aptly named Ewe Leap Scar in Gunnerside Gill. The team retrieved the sheep and returned them to their grazing.
 
08/05/2005 Called to assist a mountain biker who had come off at speed. The rider was treated for injuries at scene, before being transferred to hospital by air ambulance.
